Ghost World
directed by
Terry Zwigoff, 2001

This is an odd film - it's absolutely wonderful until you get to the end. Then you just kind of scratch your head and wonder, "Where the hell did that come from?"

You'll find, however, that I seem to be alone in this. It appears most reviews like the film (94% rating on Rotten Tomatoes) and have no problems with the ending. (If they do, they ain't saying.)

To be honest, I need to see this one again. Maybe I looked away at a crucial point and missed something. But how they got to the ending they arrived at baffles me at this point. (Example: At the end of the movie, where did Steve Buscemi's mother come from? What was that about?)

So … for now the review is this: great movie; unsatisfying ending.
