Who Am I?

My name is Bill. I'm a thin man who writes to eek out a living in Alberta: commercial writing, business writing, technical writing.

I've written ads (TV/radio), Web sites, technical support material, RFP responses (Request For Proposal), business letters (for loyalty programs), greeting cards, yada yada.

I've write pretty much anything I can get paid for. The last few years my focus has been pretty exclusively on Internet related material.

This site is a poor example of my writing. The Internet should be about minimalist writing, about paring it down to easily scanned essentials. But it's hard not to create loads of text on your own site when you're a writer. (Besides, I'm not getting paid for this so it doesn't have to be good.)

What is Piddleville?

Good question. Piddleville began as a fictional Web site. It was to be the site of a made-up town (Piddleville). Hence, all the characters created for it - Barclay, Dick Whizzy, Henta McLosky, Billy Smalls, and so on.

For the moment at least, that aspect is suspended. It's in a kind of cryogenic hibernation since, to be honest, it has run its course.

However, it may be back (if the creative enthusiasm ever returns.)

Don't think it didn't serve its purpose, though. I have my characters. I have my town. I have something of a storyline. One day, I hope to turn all the material I gurgitated into a coherent whole - a story, screenplay, something.

(Maybe it will just become a Web site on disk, a kind of "Year in the Life of Piddleville," sort of thing. Who knows?)

For now, Piddleville is simply a personal Web site filled with boneheaded opinions and so on.
